Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Alexander Rosemann was appointed Chair Building Lighting in the Department of the Built Environment of Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) in April 2014. He took on leading roles in many (inter)national research projects in Germany and North America. Before his appointment he worked for an electrical utility in North America where his responsibilities included the advancement of energy efficiency policies, codes and standards on municipal, provincial and federal level. He was thought leader in the TU/e Intelligent Lighting Institute (ILI) as well as board member of the TU/e Data Science Center, theTU/e Center for Humans & Technology and the Nederlandse Stichting Voor Verlichtingskunde (NSVV). Among his research projects are the SPARK/IMPULS project "Creating Healthy Environments - Offices" and the STW HTSM project "OptiLight - Mathematical Optimizations for Human Centric Lighting".
Rosemann studied electrical engineering and obtained his PhD and his habilitation (venia legend) at the Technical University of Berlin, Germany. He won several prizes and awards for his efforts in the field of lighting. Besides contributions to the German educational book "Beleuchtungstechnik", he published the book "Tageslicht und Solarstrahlung" (Daylight and Solar Radiation) together with Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Heinrich Kaase (TU Berlin) in 2018.
Rosemann holds both, the German and Canadian nationality, and has supervised a number of PhD candidates at TU/e.
Dirk Seifert
Dipl.-Ing Dirk Seifert studied in the 80´ties in Ilmenau and Bratislava. He startedhis professional work 1985 at Lichtstudio Halle, a lighting and planning office in East Germany. He teaches lighting technology in different workshops and seminars for professionals on a regular basis - for example seminars for the Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (Bundesanstalt für Arbeitsschutz und Arbeitsmedizin BAuA) in order to educate experts for lighting of workplaces.
In the early 90´ies he started to teach lighting and the practical use of light at the University of Art Burg Giebichenstein Halle and at Wismar University for Architectural Lighting Designers.
Starting in 2004 he works in technical lighting at Philips Lighting / Signify (today) in Hamburg. In parallel to his work he is an active member in lighting organizations (LiTG, FILD) and standardization groups (DIN).
Werner Osterhaus
Professor Osterhaus' research and teaching is driven by a passion for applying appropriate science, technology and design to architectural (day)lighting problems in order to ensure wellbeing, health and an appropriate architectural/spatial atmosphere for building occupants, as well as energy-efficiency and sustainability of the (day)lighting systems selected.
